The Region 1A Oral Interp Contest was held in Vermillion on Wed. Nov. 20, 2024, with Beresford advancing all seven students to the State Oral Interp Festival to be held in Sturgis on Dec. 6-7, 2024.
Nine schools are assigned to Region 1A, including Beresford, Canton, Dakota Valley, Elk Point Jefferson, Lennox, Parker, Sioux Fall Christian, Vermillion, and West Central. The top three winners in each of the seven categories of Oral Interp advance to the State Festival.
The Readers Theater Group took home first place at the tournament. The ensemble acting group members included Emma Andrews, Isabelle Beeson, Sophia Coe, Max Josko, and Isabella Russo.
Isabella also took first place in Dramatic Interp. Juliet Josko won first in Storytelling. The Duet team of Isabelle Beeson and Sophia Coe took second to qualify. Max Josko placed third in Humorous Interp, and Laney Andrews placed third in Non-Original Oratory. Juliet Josko was the first alternate in Poetry.
As a team, Beresford placed second in the Sweepstakes, narrowly losing to Sioux Falls Christian in total team points.
